CAIRO - 24 August 2017: The British Minister for Middle East Affairs, Alastair Burt, arrived in Cairo International Airport on Wednesday, to discuss joint cooperation and updated developments in the region.

In a two-day visit, Burt is said to meet with his counterpart to discuss Egyptian-British cooperation and the UK’s support for Egypt, especially in economic and educational reform, according to informed sources.

Burt will also discuss regional issues and international efforts to combat terrorism with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, and he will meet with Minister of Interior Magdy Abdel Ghaffar as well as with education and business leaders.

This is the minister's first visit to Egypt since he was appointed as the first-ever joint state minister for the Middle East and North Africa for the UK's Foreign Office and the Department for International Development.
