SANAA - 23 August 2017: Houthi militias captured on Wednesday hundreds of supports of former Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh in Al Hudaydah city while heading for Sanaa to take part in celebrations to be held on Thursday.

Sky News TV channel carried the news without giving further details.

Earlier, Saleh deployed over 30,000 fighters in Yemen's capital Sanaa to secure the celebrations.

Yemeni military sources told Sky News that the forces are stationed in the southern part of Sanaa and the headquarters of the General People's Congress, run by Saleh loyalists.

Clashes erupted between Houthis and Saleh supporters after the Houthi political bureau has criticized the General People's Congress and accused it of implementing a plan aimed at fomenting sedition in the Arab country.
