102 prisoners to be pardoned on revolution anniversary

CAIRO - 23 Aug 2017: As many as 102 prisoners will be pardoned in line with a presidential decree issued to mark the anniversary of the July 23 revolution.

Another 109 inmates will be released on parole.

Presidential pardon for releasing prisoners is a familiar and repeated procedure during feasts and on revolution anniversaries.

On June 23, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi pardoned 502 prisoners on Eid al-Fitr, and on January 25, the Ministry of Interior released 1,280 prisoners in celebration of the Revolution anniversary.
