CAIRO - 21 August 2017: The Antiquities Police at Beni Suef seized six artifacts and 4,480 coins from the home of two brothers in one of the villages north of Beni Suef on Monday.

The police were informed that two brothers residing in Abusir village, Beni Suef, were trafficking in antiquities. Despite the tip, police failed to arrest the two men.

The police stormed their home, yet the two men escaped before police had arrived.

Antiquities' trafficking has been widespread in Egypt since the January 25 revolution in 2011 and the ensuing security vacuum. The ongoing harsh economic conditions have made trafficking even more apparent.
