Death by hanging for 4 rapists in Alexandria

CAIRO – 21 August 2017: Four defendants in Alexandria were sentenced to death by hanging over charges of kidnapping and raping a nurse in an abandoned apartment belonging to one of the defendants.

The verdict was handed down after the jury consulted Egypt’s Grand Mufti on his religious view regarding the punishment.

The rape incident took place in March 2015, when the four defendants threatened three nurses with knives and other melee weapons. They then assaulted two of the nurses and forced the third into a car before driving her away to an abandoned apartment where each of them raped her.
