CAIRO - 19 August 2017: Minister of Manpower, Mohamed Saafan called on youth looking for jobs to register their data on the Ministry's website in order to provide them with suitable job opportunities domestically and internationally, in a press conference Saturday.

Saafan pointed out that the existence of a database of young people willing to work provides suitable job opportunities for the youth, and connects the Egyptian labor force to factories and companies.

On the issue of child labor, the Manpower Minister said that there is cooperation with various international organizations to support families that force their children to work, maintain the education of these children and provide employment opportunities for one of their family members.

The unemployment rate in Egypt fell to 12 percent in the first quarter of 2017 compared to 12.4 percent in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2016, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS). The number of the unemployed reached 3.503 million people, marking a decline of 88.000 people (or 12 percent), compared to Q4 of 2016.
