CAIRO - 18 August 2017: Two police officers and three policemen were suspended pending investigations after five prisoners ran away from a police station in Upper Egypt’s governorate of Qena, Major-General Alaa al-Ayat, Qena Security Director told Egypt Today Friday.

The Public Prosecution supervised by the adviser Ahmed Abdel-Rahman, Qena public prosecutor and Mo’men Radwan, the prosecution head heard on Thursday the statements of the station policemen and guards, and accused people who were present during the escaping. Seven accused people in the detention room confirmed that they were completely sleeping when five prisoners have fled.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the prison lacks securing as the police guards were not present in the place, through which the prisoners ran away.
Five prisoners on remand managed to escape a police station in Qena on Thursday after damaging the detention room.
