CAIRO - 17 August 2017: Assistant Foreign Minister for International Security and Multilateral Parties Affairs Ambassador Hisham Badr held a meeting on Thursday with representatives of the embassies of the member states of the UN Security Council, within the context of Egypt’s current presidency of the council this month.

During the meeting, Badr said that Egypt presented the visions, ideas and interests of Africa and the Arab world during its membership of the council, a statement by the Foreign Ministry said.

Egypt played an important role in boosting cooperation between the UN Security Council and the African Union Peace and Security Council and in highlighting the African vision regarding the issues of the continent which represent 90 percent of the topics presented to the council, he said.

He pointed out to Egypt’s success, in cooperation with a number of states elected to the council, in issuing the resolution no 2286 in May last year on the protection of medical facilities in the armed disputes.
