CAIRO – 14 August 217: India has announced its support for the nomination of Ambassador Moushira Khattab to UNESCO’s Director-General post. Elections will be held next October, a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.

In a phone call by Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj on Sunday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry tackled bilateral relations between the two countries and means of international coordination.

Swaraj informed Soukry about her country’s support for the Egyptian nominee Khattab for UNESCO’s Director-General post. Also, Shoukry emphasized Egypt’s support for Justice Dalveer Bhandari, who has been nominated by India as its candidate for another nine-year term as judge in the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the principal judicial authority of the U.N., Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Abou Zeid said.
