CAIRO – 12 August 2017: Engineer Mostafa El-Sayed, the minister of transportation’s advisor for the maintenance of the railway, died shortly after he arrived at the site of Alexandria’s train collision.

According to informed sources, Sayed fainted upon seeing the bodies of the victims who perished in the deadly train collision, and he was immediately moved to the hospital, where he died.

Early on Friday, trains destined from Cairo and Port Said collided at the station in the Khorshid district of Alexandria, resulting in more than 40 deaths and many more injured.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi sought an immediate inquiry into the deadly accident on Friday and further pledged to bring whoever was responsible to justice.
