Alexandria train collision culprits will be punished: Sisi

CAIRO – 11 August 2017: President Abel Fatah al-Sisi offered his deep condolences to the families of the victims of the Alexandria train collision that left 36 people killed and more than 120 others injured on Friday.

Sisi affirmed that the all of the state’s entities and bodies will work to offer the needed care for the victims and their families, and that all of the culprits will be punished. “Everyone responsible for the accident will be questioned and punished,” the presidential statement read.

About LE 50,000 ($2,813) were ordered to be cashed for the collision victims’ families as compensations, according to Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Wali.

Leaders of several countries offered their condolences to President Sisi and the Egyptian people over the incident, including the United Kingdom, United States, Kuwait and Jordon. Egypt's Grand Mufti Shawki Allam also offered his deep condolences to the victims’ families.
