CAIRO – 8 August 2017: The Security agencies led by interior minister assistant for Public Security, Hossam Nasr have arrested people digging for artifacts in different governorates on Tuesday August 8, continuing their efforts to catch antiquities' traffickers.

Security agencies could arrest antiquities' traffickers in Sohag and Aswan, as they found pottery artifacts dating back to the Roman era in their homes, in addition to the existence of passages under the ground.

The accused have admitted that they dig to search for antiquities, so they are brought before prosecution.

Antiquities' trafficking has increased in Egypt especially after 25 January revolution due to the absence of security and the decline in economy in Egypt, and hence security agencies exert more effort to combat it.
