KABUL - 8 August 2017: At least two people were killed on Monday, one of them was key leader in Taliban who was called Zarqawi, during clashes with security forces in Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan.

The clashes between Taliban militants and security forces broke out in Khogyani district, causing casualties in both sides, as Khaama press quoted the provincial government's media office statement.

The statement added that one of the Afghan national police was killed during the clashes, while the anti-government militant groups did not comment on the report yet.

Nangarhar is among relatively calm provinces in eastern Afghanistan but the anti-government armed militant groups have recently increased their insurgency activities in some parts of the province in the recent years.
