CAIRO – 6 August 2017: On the suspicious killing of an Egyptian migrant in New York, Minister of Immigration and Expatriate Affairs Nabila Makram immediately contacted Sunday the consul general of Egypt in New York, Ahmed Farouk, to discuss the circumstances behind the accident.

Farouk affirmed that Hesham Kamel, 52, of Willoughby Hills was shot and killed in Cleveland Thursday, during an internet car sale that turned into a robbery, according to Ohio police.

Makram stated that she herself and the ministry's team are following up the accident circumstances, asserting that “Egypt is standing in the back of its children in times of hardship.”

According to Ohio police, the witnesses said that the gunman shot Kamel twice, and took off in the car that Kamel was trying to trade and other three men stole Kamel's wallet and ran down the street. No one has been arrested or charged in connection with the shooting till now.

The officers found the stolen car about one mile away later on Thursday evening, police said.
