One arrested in Esna checkpoint shooting attack: Ministry

CAIRO – 4 August 2017:The Interior Ministry said Thursday that security forces arrested one of two attackers who killed two people including a policeman in a shooting attack on a checkpoint in Esna, Luxor.

A policeman and a civilian were killed, and two other people were injured in a shooting incident targeting a security check point in Esna city, Southern Luxor, late-night Thursday.

The police found with the perpetrator a machine gun, sniper weapon, an explosive belt and a device which was defused later by an explosive expert.

Director of Luxor’s security directorate and Luxor governor immediately arrived to the scene of the accident to assess the situation and any repercussions.
