Grand Imam appoints Mahmoud Sadiq as Acting President of Al-Azhar University

 

 

Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam and Sheikh of Al-Azhar, appointed Dr. Mahmoud Sadiq Hassan, Vice President of Al-Azhar University for Graduate Studies and Research, to serve as Acting President of the university on a temporary basis until a permanent president is appointed in accordance with the law.

 

 

Sadiq's appointment follows the end of former President Dr. Salam Dawoud's four-year term as head of the university in July 2026.
