1.214 inmates released from correctional and rehabilitation centers on anniversary of July 23 revolution

CAIRO – 23 July 2026: On the occasion of the anniversary of the July 23 Revolution, 1,214 inmates have been released by presidential pardon.

In implementation of the presidential decree granting pardons for the remainder of sentences to eligible convicts, the Community Protection Sector convened committees nationwide to review inmate files. Following a comprehensive review, the committees determined that 1,214 inmates met the criteria for release.

This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Interior's commitment to modern penal policy—providing comprehensive care for inmates and actively implementing release mechanisms for convicts who have been rehabilitated and are prepared to reintegrate into society.
