CAIRO - 23 July 2026: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said Egypt supports regional and international efforts to prioritize dialogue and diplomatic solutions in addressing crises.
The Minister made the remarks during a meeting with Luxembourg’s Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel on Thursday, July 23, 2026, on the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting.
Abdelatty praised the momentum in bilateral relations between Egypt and Luxembourg, reflected in the recent exchange of high-level visits between the two countries.
He expressed Egypt's interest in expanding economic cooperation with Luxembourg, increasing trade exchange and boosting joint investments.
The Minister also highlighted the importance of establishing a joint economic committee and a business council between the two countries to support trade and investment cooperation.
The talks also covered a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern, particularly developments in the Gaza Strip.
Abdelatty praised Luxembourg's supportive stance on the Palestinian cause, stressing the need to implement the commitments of the first phase of the US president's plan and to begin work on the second phase.
He also briefed his Luxembourg counterpart on the latest regional developments and Egypt's efforts to support security and stability in the region.
Regarding Sudan, Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s efforts to support Sudan’s security and stability, preserve its unity, sovereignty, and national institutions, and stressed the importance of achieving a sustainable ceasefire, intensifying humanitarian assistance, and supporting a comprehensive political process led and owned by the Sudanese people.
He said such efforts should safeguard Sudan's unity and meet the aspirations of its people for security, stability and development.
For his part, Luxembourg's foreign minister affirmed his country's commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with Egypt across various fields and continuing coordination and consultations on regional and international developments of common interest. He praised Egypt's pivotal role in supporting security and stability in the region.
