CAIRO – 21 July 2026: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty, met in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates. Abdelatty visited the UAE during a stopover en route to the Philippines to attend the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting.
The two ministers praised the steady momentum of Egyptian-Emirati relations across various fields, guided by the directives of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. They highlighted the strategic partnership between the two nations and reiterated a mutual commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation for the benefit of both peoples.
During the meeting, the ministers condemned repeated Iranian attacks targeting several Arab states. Abdelatty affirmed Egypt's full solidarity with the UAE and all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, stressing that such attacks represent a blatant violation of national sovereignty and a severe threat to regional stability. He called for an immediate halt to all escalatory actions that fuel tension or jeopardize the security of Arab nations.
Addressing maritime security, both ministers underscored the necessity of preserving freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law. They rejected any efforts to restrict transit through international waterways, warning of the severe repercussions such disruptions pose to energy security and the global economy.
The meeting concluded with a broad exchange of views on pressing regional developments, including the crises in Sudan, Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon. Both leaders agreed to maintain close coordination and consultation to bolster security and peace across the region.
