CAIRO - 21 July 2026: The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has issued a set of urgent tips for citizens in light of the intense heatwave currently affecting the country.
Egypt Today presents the Meteorological Authority’s most prominent tips:
- Avoid direct exposure to sunlight during peak hours.
- Wear head coverings such as a hat or use an umbrella when going out to protect yourself from sun rays.
- Drink plenty of fluids, especially water, to compensate for fluid loss.
- Stay in well-ventilated areas to help alleviate the heat.
- Do not leave any flammable materials (such as aerosols, perfumes, or pressurized containers) inside cars, and avoid parking cars in direct sunlight for extended periods.
- Regularly follow weather forecasts to stay updated on weather conditions.
The General Authority for Meteorology warned of extremely hot weather throughout the day across the entire country, as temperatures are rising in most areas.
Maximum and perceived Temperatures:
Greater Cairo: High 38°C, Perceived 40°C.
Lower Egypt: High 37°C, Perceived 39°C.
Northwest Coast: High 32°C, Perceived 35°C.
Northeast Coast: High 35°C, Perceived 38°C.
Upper Egypt (North): High 41°C, Perceived 43°C.
Upper Egypt (South): High 45°C, Feeling 46°C.
