FMs of Egypt, Cyprus, and Greece
CAIRO - 20 July 2026: Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty held a Sunday phone call with Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis to discuss boosting bilateral cooperation and evaluating rapidly unfolding regional developments.
The ministers praised the growing momentum in Egyptian-Greek relations, anchored by their strategic partnership, and committed to building on high-level exchanges to deepen political and economic ties.
Abdelatty specifically valued Greece's consistent support for Egypt within European Union institutions.
Abdelatty emphasized the critical importance of the tripartite cooperation mechanism linking Egypt, Greece, and Cyprus across all levels.
He stressed the need to continue expanding trade, economic, and investment ties among the three nations to maximize the impact of their shared partnership.
Turning to regional affairs, Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s intensive diplomatic outreach aimed at cooling down current regional escalations.
He reiterated Cairo's backing for any efforts seeking to resolve the ongoing crisis through dialogue and diplomacy to restore stability to the region.
The two officials agreed to sustain close consultation and coordination under their strategic framework to support regional de-escalation efforts.
