Egypt’s FM with the UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People
CAIRO - 19 July 2026: Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty met on Sunday with a delegation from the UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People to discuss ongoing peace efforts and regional stability.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Jerusalem Conference in Cairo, co-organized by the UN committee and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), according to a Sunday statement by Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Tamim Khallaf.
During the talks, Abdelatty emphasized that regional security hinges on the restoration of the Palestinian people's legitimate and inalienable rights, highlighting the critical importance of implementing the US president's peace plan for Gaza.
Abdelatty strongly condemned ongoing Israeli violations in the West Bank, pointing directly to settlement expansion, land confiscation, and repeated incursions into religious holy sites in the occupied territories.
He urged the UN committee to maintain its pivotal role in mobilizing international pressure within the United Nations to force compliance with international law, reiterating Egypt's absolute rejection of any attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause or displace Palestinians from their land.
The delegation members, headed by Cheikh Niangexpressed their deep appreciation for Egypt’s historic, central role in defending Palestinian rights across all international forums.
