CAIRO – 17 July 206: Egypt will experience hot and humid conditions during the day across most of the country on Friday, with extreme heat forecast for the south, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA). The early morning and nighttime will bring warmer, humid weather nationwide.
Dr. Mahmoud Shaheen, director of the EMA’s media center, released the expected maximum temperatures alongside the felt (perceived) temperatures in the shade:
Greater Cairo: High 35°C, felt 37°C
Lower Egypt: High 34°C, felt 36°C
Northwest Coast: High 31°C, felt 35°C
Northeast Coast: High 33°C, felt 36°C
Northern Upper Egypt: High 37°C, felt 39°C
Southern Egypt: High 41°C, felt 42°C
High humidity levels are expected to increase perceived temperatures by two to four degrees Celsius.
Forecasters noted a slight chance of low clouds over scattered areas of the North Coast, Lower Egypt, Greater Cairo, and the Suez Canal cities, which may bring light, brief drizzle.
Morning mist is expected between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. across northern Egypt, Greater Cairo, the Suez Canal cities, central Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt, and may become dense at times.
Wind speeds will range from 30 to 40 km/h across most regions intermittently, helping to moderate nighttime temperatures. However, wind activity along several Mediterranean beaches—including Salloum, Marsa Matrouh, El Alamein, Alexandria, Baltim, and Port Said—will cause wave heights to rise between 1.5 and 2 meters.
