GAZA CITY – 16 July 2026: Israeli strikes killed at least five Palestinians across the Gaza Strip on Thursday, Palestinian health officials said, as Israel continued military attacks despite an October ceasefire agreement with Hamas aimed at ending the war.
According to medics, two Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike near the Tuffah neighborhood in northern Gaza, while another was killed in Israeli tank shelling in the Zeitoun area, east of Gaza City, Reuters reported.
An Israeli airstrike on a tent sheltering displaced Palestinians west of Gaza City killed one person and wounded several others, medics said.
Another strike targeting a vehicle in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, killed one Palestinian. Witnesses also reported an Israeli airstrike on a residential building in Deir Al-Balah in central Gaza.
The Gaza Health Ministry said 1,127 Palestinians have been killed and 3,643 injured since the ceasefire took effect in October, adding to a war toll of more than 73,000 dead and 173,751 wounded since the war began two years earlier.
The ministry also reported four fatalities from Israeli strikes over the previous 24 hours on Wednesday, following 13 deaths the day before, reflecting a boost in Israeli attacks compared with the initial weeks of the truce.
