CAIRO – 15 July 2026: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdelatty, met on Wednesday with members of the Egyptian expatriate community in Vienna during his official visit to Austria. Egypt's Ambassador to Austria, Mohamed Nasr, also attended the meeting.

During the gathering, Minister Abdelatty expressed pride in the vital role the Egyptian community in Austria plays in strengthening bilateral relations across various fields. He praised expatriates as exemplary representatives who project a positive image of Egypt and help build bridges of understanding between the two nations.

The Foreign Minister emphasized that maintaining regular communication with the Egyptian diaspora is a cornerstone of the ministry's mission. This commitment, he noted, aligns with directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to prioritize the welfare of Egyptian citizens abroad and ensure they receive the highest standard of consular services.

Abdelatty also reviewed ongoing efforts to modernize Egypt's consular system, particularly through expanded digitization, which aims to streamline administrative procedures and improve service quality.

He highlighted several joint initiatives launched with various state institutions to strengthen expats' ties to their homeland and keep them informed of state-backed benefits and investment facilities. Additionally, he commended the Egyptian Embassy in Vienna for its active role in maintaining open channels of communication with the local community.

The Minister welcomed the upcoming participation of the Egyptian community in Austria in the seventh edition of the "Conference of Egyptians Abroad," scheduled to take place in Cairo on August 2–3, 2026. He emphasized that the conference serves as a key institutional platform to enhance direct dialogue with state bodies, build on the successes of the sixth edition held in August 2025, and leverage the expertise of Egyptians abroad to support national development goals.

The meeting concluded with an open discussion, during which Minister Abdelatty listened to proposals and feedback from community members on various issues, reiterating the ministry's dedication to evolving its outreach mechanisms to meet their needs and aspirations.
