CAIRO – 13 July 2026: The Ministry of Health and Population warned of three major diseases that can be transmitted from an infected mother to her fetus during pregnancy: hepatitis B virus (HBV), human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and syphilis.

The ministry emphasized that early detection allows for timely medical intervention, which facilitates treatment, reduces the spread of infection, and prevents potential complications. This screening push is part of the president's initiative for maternal and fetal health, operating under the broader "100 Million Healthy Lives" campaign.

Health officials urged pregnant women to take advantage of the free screening and follow-up services offered through the initiative, which aims to provide essential healthcare for both mother and child throughout pregnancy.

Citizens seeking more information or answers to inquiries related to the initiative's services can contact the official hotlines at 105 or 15335.
