CAIRO – 11 July 2026: Cairo International Stadium will host a grand public celebration on Monday evening to honor Egypt's national football team following the Pharaohs' historic achievement at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Pharaohs reached the knockout stage for the first time after finishing runners-up in Group G, opening their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Belgium, followed by a 3-1 comeback victory over New Zealand and another 1-1 draw with Iran.
They then defeated Australia on penalties in the Round of 32 to set up a meeting with defending champions Argentina, where their campaign ended in a 3-2 defeat after surrendering a two-goal lead.
Monday’s celebration will honor the players and coaching staff and feature musical performances and entertainment.
Sports United and Tazkarti are expected to announce full details in the coming hours, including stadium gate opening times, ticket booking procedures, and the event program.
The ceremony follows a series of tributes held after the team's return to Egypt.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received the delegation in New Alamein on Saturday, praising the players for their outstanding performances throughout the tournament and describing their achievement as a source of pride for all Egyptians.
The team also received a massive public reception in the city a day earlier, where thousands of supporters gathered to welcome the players and coaching staff, waving Egyptian flags and chanting in celebration of the Pharaohs' historic achievement.
