CAIRO - 11 July 2026: The Egyptian Cabinet's Media Center highlighted the unprecedented growth rates witnessed by Alamein International Airport, reflecting the state's efforts to develop the civil aviation system and enhance the readiness of Egyptian airports to accommodate the increasing growth in travel, tourism, and investment.
In light of the state's vision to transform New Alamein City into a global hub for tourism and business, the Ministry of Civil Aviation continues to implement its plans to develop and upgrade El Alamein International Airport.
This development aims to keep pace with the rapid growth in travel, tourism, and investment, and enhance the airport's readiness to host the second edition of the Alamein International Aerospace Exhibition (EIAS 2026), scheduled for next September, in coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, the Air Force, and the Egyptian Space Agency.
The Center noted that hosting the second edition of the Alamein International Aerospace Exhibition reflects Egypt's growing prominence on the regional and international aerospace industry map. It also contributes to opening new horizons for partnerships and investments, and the transfer of expertise and advanced technology.
In an infographic published on its social media platforms, the Cabinet's Media Center highlighted key growth indicators for Alamein International Airport in 2026. The infographic showed that passenger numbers at the airport increased by 57% compared to the previous year, reaching 266,600 passengers in 2026, up from 169,500 in 2025.
The number of flights at the airport also increased by approximately 26% compared to the previous year, reaching 3,190 flights in 2026, compared to 2,540 flights in 2025.
The infographic added that 15 airlines currently operate at Alamein International Airport, including Etihad Airways, Flydubai, FlyNas, Air Cairo, and Saudia.
The infographic indicated that with the beginning of the summer season of 2026, Alamein International Airport received new flights from a number of international airlines, most notably: TAROM of Romania, Interair of Poland, BHR of Bulgaria, and Gulf Air. The number of airlines operating at the airport is expected to rise to 26 by the end of the season.
