CAIRO – 8 July 2026: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdelatty, held a phone call on Wednesday with his Yemeni counterpart, Shaya Mohsen Al-Zindani, as part of ongoing communication and coordination between the two brotherly countries.

The call addressed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and Yemen and followed up on the outcomes of the ninth round of the Egyptian-Yemeni Strategic Dialogue, which was held in Cairo in May 2026 and chaired by the foreign ministers of both countries.

The discussion focused on implementing the agreed-upon steps to advance bilateral cooperation and political coordination in a manner that serves the common interests of both countries and reflects the depth of the historical and fraternal ties between their peoples.

Minister Abdelatty also discussed with his Yemeni counterpart the latest developments in efforts to secure the release of the Egyptian sailors aboard a ship that was hijacked off the Somali coast, given that the vessel's owner is a Yemeni national.

The two ministers affirmed their commitment to continued close coordination and pledged to make every effort to expedite the sailors' release and ensure their safety.
