CAIRO – 6 July 2026: The Cabinet is moving to implement the president’s directives on the media, issued during the inauguration of Egypt’s new State Strategic Command headquarters in the New Capital on Saturday.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met Minister of State for Information Diaa Rashwan on Sunday to discuss mechanisms for implementing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s media directives.
During the inauguration, El-Sisi directed broader space for objective media dialogue that accommodates differing viewpoints within a framework of mutual respect.
He instructed the Minister of State for Information to coordinate with relevant media institutions to organize an annual meeting, tentatively scheduled for December 3 each year under the president's patronage.
This meeting will review the state of Egypt's media sector, discuss challenges and opportunities, and issue recommendations for its continued development.
Madbouly said the government is committed to implementing the president's directives by continuing to give priority to informing public opinion and keeping citizens aware of the facts, particularly in light of current challenges and the spread of rumors.
For his part, Rashwan said the ministry will work to translate the president's directives into clear implementation mechanisms through coordination with various media institutions.
In full military uniform, El-Sisi last night inaugurated the State Strategic Command, a 22,000-feddan complex designed to serve as the central hub for coordinating state institutions and enhancing data sharing, crisis management and decision-making.
