CAIRO – 5 July 2026: The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) launched on Sunday the 227th "Zad El-Azza... From Egypt to Gaza" convoy, comprising aid trucks bound for the Gaza Strip as part of its role as the national mechanism for coordinating humanitarian assistance to the enclave.
The convoy was launched as the organization marked 1,000 days of ongoing humanitarian response to the Gaza crisis.
The convoy is carrying hundreds of tons of humanitarian supplies, including more than 41,000 food baskets, around 400 tons of flour, approximately 470 tons of medical supplies, relief materials, and medicines, and more than 1,605 tons of fuel to help operate hospitals and other vital facilities in Gaza.
The Egyptian Red Crescent said it has maintained a continuous presence at the Egyptian border since the start of the war on Gaza. It noted that the Rafah border crossing has never been permanently closed on the Egyptian side, and that the organization has remained on high alert across its logistics centers to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance.
According to the organization, more than one million tons of humanitarian and relief aid have been delivered since the outbreak of the crisis, supported by the work of more than 65,000 volunteers across the country.
