CAIRO - 31 July 2017: The media department at the American University in Cairo (AUC) offered to train 50 journalists and media persons on different media-related activities, said head of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation Makram Mohamed Ahmed.

Applicants must be fluent in English and should not be aged more than 35 years old, he said in press statements.

Thirty journalists will be chosen from national press institutions and the rest from private newspapers, he said.

Participants will be transported from Cairo to the AUC training center in New Cairo and each one will be handed a laptop at the start of the training course.

Makram urged all press institutions to effectively take part in such courses that will hone skills of journalists and improve performance at press and media institutions.

He also called on businessmen to finance such courses that will help achieve a quantum leap in the press and media.

Hussein Amin, head of the AUC media section, said the latest journalist training programs applied worldwide will be used in these courses.

Attendance is important so that trainees could get an AUC certificate, he noted.

He thanked Makram for showing an interest in these courses, saying their cost is high but will bear fruit at the end.
