CAIRO – 31 July 2017: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry will arrive in Khartoum Wednesday to participate in the meetings of the second edition of the Sudanese-Egyptian Committee for Political Consultation.

The Sudanese capital will host the second edition of the Sudanese-Egyptian Committee for Political Consultation, headed by Shoukry and his Sudanese counterpart, Professor Ibrahim Ghandour, on Thursday, August 3.

The meetings will discuss bilateral relations between the two countries and the outcomes of the Sudanese-Egyptian Presidential Committee for Cooperation held in October in Cairo, said Sudanese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qareebullah al-Khader.

“The meetings of the second edition of the Sudanese-Egyptian Committee for Political Consultation are a step that completes what the two ministries have started toward the promotion of bilateral cooperation programs in different fields,” said Khader.

The meetings of the first edition discussed many bilateral issues and the two ministers agreed on establishing a common council committee whose first meetings were held in Khartoum in February 2016.

It also tackled ways to hold the meetings of the 8th session of the Supreme Presidential Committee, which was previously known only as the “Supreme Committee” before Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir agreed to upgrade it during their meeting in Cairo in October 2016.
