CAIRO - 30 June 2026: A senior Hamas delegation led by West Bank chief Zaher Jabarin arrived in Cairo Tuesday to execute the final stages of the Gaza Strip ceasefire agreement, officials announced.

Taher al-Nunu, political advisor to the head of the Hamas Political Bureau, said the delegation scheduled immediate high-level meetings with Egyptian security officials and international mediators.

The talks aim to solidify the truce framework and establish long-term regional stability.

In a statement, Nunu emphasized that the delegation's immediate agenda prioritizes halting escalating Israeli military operations, targeted assassinations, and fatal cross-border strikes in Gaza.

Further, the negotiations will focus on enforcing total humanitarian access to ensure an unhindered delivery of critical engineering supplies required to reconstruct hospitals, bakeries, and destroyed civil infrastructure, alongside fulfilling remaining stipulations of the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement.

The diplomatic round will concurrently finalize the strategic roadmap drafted by UN Special Coordinator Nickolay Mladenov in coordination with regional mediators.

This phase outlines the transition to the agreement's second stage, including the deployment of a joint administrative committee, the stationing of international protection forces, and the eventual total withdrawal of Israeli military units from the entire Gaza Strip territory.

Nunu concluded by affirming the group's commitment to securing an independent Palestinian state while systematically ending local humanitarian suffering.

Earlier, Egyptian General Intelligence Service (GIS) Director Hassan Rashad met with his Turkish counterpart Ibrahim Kalin and held a summit with Hamas leaders to "clear obstacles blocking the implementation of the U.S. peace plan."
