CAIRO - 30 June 2026: As an extreme heat wave hits Egypt, citizens are urgently warned agains direct sun exposure to avoid heat exhaustion and its symptoms.
With the perceived temperature degrees recording more than 40°C the past days, the Ministry of Health launched an awareness campaign under the hashtag #YourHealthInSummer, aiming to highlight “Heat Exhaustion and Its Health Risks.”
This comes as part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to raise public awareness on how to cope with extreme heat waves.
The Ministry of Health and Population published an illustrated guide on its official platforms addressing the common question: “What does heat exhaustion do?” The guide outlines the most prominent symptoms of this condition, which require caution and attention.
These symptoms include:
- High body temperature.
- Dehydration.
- Altered mental status.
- Fainting and vomiting.
The Ministry emphasized that in severe cases, individuals should immediately go to the nearest hospital to receive the necessary medical care to avoid any serious health complications.
The Ministry also urged citizens to contact them for medical inquiries through the hotlines 15335 and 105. It stressed the importance of drinking sufficient amounts of water and avoiding direct sun exposure, especially during peak hours, to maintain health and prevent heat exhaustion.
The Egyptian Meteorological Authority forecasts that Tuesday, June 30, 2026, will see warm and humid weather in the early morning, becoming very hot and humid during the day across most of the country.
The North Coast will experience hot and humid conditions, while the nights will be warm and humid across most of the country.
