CAIRO – 29 June 2026: Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, received Hassan Radad, Minister of Labor, on Monday.
The two ministers discussed ways to enhance coordination on issues related to Egyptian workers abroad and mechanisms to improve their skills while ensuring their interests are safeguarded and their rights are protected.
The meeting also reviewed the latest developments in implementing the memoranda of understanding signed between Egypt and several European countries, including Cyprus and Spain, on the employment of skilled Egyptian workers. The agreements aim to support the circular migration model and achieve mutual benefits for Egypt and its partner countries.
The two sides agreed to intensify coordination and hold regular meetings between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Labor and their counterparts in European countries to monitor the implementation of these agreements and maximize their benefits.
Minister Abdelatty emphasized the importance of improving the skills of Egyptian workers abroad by expanding technical education and vocational training programs. He noted that this would help develop a qualified workforce capable of meeting the needs of regional and international labor markets, particularly in sectors experiencing growing demand, such as agriculture and construction.
The ministers also reviewed ongoing national initiatives and programs aimed at qualifying and training skilled Egyptian workers, as well as developing the technical and vocational education system to better prepare young people for labor market needs, thereby enhancing their competitiveness and readiness to enter international labor markets.
Minister Abdelatty also stressed the importance of strengthening continuous coordination between Egyptian embassies and diplomatic missions abroad and technical offices, particularly labor offices, to ensure a swift response to the needs of Egyptian citizens overseas, address any challenges they may face, and create more employment opportunities, thereby supporting the state's objectives of expanding employment and promoting the welfare of Egyptians abroad.
The two sides also discussed the importance of establishing a unified, comprehensive national database for Egyptian workers abroad. Such a database would enable regular monitoring of their conditions, provide accurate data to support decision-making and future planning, and improve communication with Egyptian citizens abroad, facilitating the more efficient delivery of consular and labor services.
