CAIRO - 28 June 2016: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi was briefed on the Suez Canal transit rates for the 2025/2026 fiscal year, along with the progress and timelines of launching new marine units in the coming period.

President El-Sisi met on Sunday with Admiral Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, and Mustafa El-Degeshi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the South Red Sea Shipyard Company.

Presidential spokesperson, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, said that the President reviewed the Suez Canal transit rates for the 2025/2026 fiscal year, along with the progress and timelines of launching new marine units in the coming period. The President stressed the need to continue building up domestic marine-unit manufacturing to meet national demand in the canal and Egyptian ports, support the river transport sector, and expand into foreign export markets in partnership with the private sector.

He also directed officials to maintain the highest quality standards, keep to the established project timelines, enforce occupational safety and health requirements, and ensure ongoing training for technical staff.

El-Shenawy added that the President also followed up on equipping the fiberglass factories at the Suez Canal Modern Boats Company, a joint venture between the Suez Canal Authority and the South Red Sea Shipyard Company.

Additionally, El-Sisi was briefed on the construction of several fiberglass boats, including the completed hulls of three tourist launches that will serve maritime and Nile tourism.

The spokesperson said the meeting also covered the progress of building twelve deep-sea fishing vessels of the "Rezk" class, built using the latest global technology. The President further reviewed the progress of manufacturing a sixty-passenger river bus for the Cairo Governorate, as well as the construction of the "Azm"-class marine tugboats, which have a ninety-ton bollard pull, again emphasizing strict adherence to quality and safety standards.
