Egyptian, Omani FMs discuss regional developments on phone call
CAIRO - 27 June 2026: A telephone call took place on Friday, June 26, between Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, and Mr. Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, as part of the ongoing consultations and coordination between the two brotherly countries regarding bilateral relations and the latest regional developments.
The two ministers affirmed their pride in the close fraternal relations between Egypt and the Sultanate of Oman, and their commitment to further developing these ties and building upon the momentum witnessed in bilateral relations, particularly following President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's visit to Oman.
Minister Abdelatty conveyed the greetings of the President Sisi to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, while the Omani minister conveyed the greetings and appreciation of His Majesty the Sultan to the Egyptian President.
Both ministers emphasized their commitment to continuing to strengthen cooperation in various fields to serve the common interests of the two countries and their brotherly peoples.
The two ministers also reviewed developments in the US-Iranian talks, in light of the recent meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and the United States.
Minister Abdelatty stressed the importance of building upon the negotiating track and emphasized the need to guarantee freedom of navigation, refrain from imposing any fees that impede it, and adhere to the relevant rules of international law. The two ministers agreed on the necessity of resolving disputes peacefully, which contributes to enhancing regional security and stability.
The call addressed the latest developments in the Palestinian issue, with both ministers emphasizing its centrality as the cornerstone for achieving lasting security and stability in the region. They stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to de-escalate tensions and create the conditions for resuming a serious political process leading to a just and comprehensive settlement.
The two ministers agreed to continue consultations and coordination in the coming period regarding various bilateral and regional issues of common interest.
