Al Azhar offers condolences to Venezuela for victims following devastating 2026 earthquake

CAIRO – 26 June 2026: Al-Azhar has expressed its deepest condolences and sympathy to Venezuela and its people over the victims of the devastating earthquakes that struck the country, resulting in hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries and displacements.

In a statement, Al-Azhar affirmed its full humanitarian solidarity with the Venezuelan people in this painful tragedy.

Al-Azhar said it is following, with great sorrow, reports of the collapse of hundreds of buildings and residential towers, the declaration of a state of emergency, and the intensive evacuation efforts underway in the affected areas. It called on the international community and global relief organizations to urgently provide on-the-ground support to rescue teams, to help them locate those trapped under the rubble and provide shelter for the displaced.

Al-Azhar extended its sincere condolences and sympathy to Venezuela, its people, and the families of the victims, praying to Allah Almighty to grant the injured a speedy recovery and to have mercy on all those affected.
