CAIRO – 24 June 2026: Egypt on Tuesday launched an initiative to provide vocational training opportunities in Germany for 80 students from two vocational education schools in the 6th of October City, Giza.

The initiative, named "Emtiaz" (Excellence), is being implemented under the Egyptian-German Center for Jobs, Migration and Reintegration, affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates, in partnership with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education.

It forms part of the THAMM Plus program, which promotes a comprehensive approach to labor migration governance and labor mobility in North Africa.

The launch event was inaugurated by Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Nabil Habashi.

Habashi said the initiative marks the beginning of a promising pathway for a select group of technical education students chosen to benefit from vocational training opportunities in Germany.

He added that the selection of the beneficiaries reflects the quality of Egypt's technical education system and its ability to prepare skilled professionals capable of competing in international labor markets.

The participating students specialize in fields that are witnessing growing demand in the German labor market, including mechanics, welding, metalworking, refrigeration and air conditioning, Habashi said.

He noted that the Egyptian government is committed to providing integrated programs that combine vocational and language training to ensure young Egyptians are prepared in line with international standards and are equipped to integrate into different work environments.

Habashi said the initiative reflects the depth of Egyptian-German cooperation and underscores Egypt's commitment to investing in human capital and preparing young people to meet the requirements of the global labor market.

He added that the program would help promote safe and regular migration pathways while creating new opportunities for Egyptian youth.
