CAIRO - 23 June 2026: New York City Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani congratulated Egypt on its first-ever World Cup victory, sharing scenes of jubilant celebrations by Egyptian fans in Queens, New York. 

In his tweet, he congratulated Egyptians using the Egyptian phrase tweeting: "Mabrook Masr."

After Egypt scored 3-1 over New Zealand in its first World Cup win, thousands of Egyptian fans took to the streets in different countries around the world, celebrating the historic win. The crowds waved flags, chanted and sang.
