CAIRO - 23 June 2026: Egypt and the United Kingdom must rapidly finalize an ongoing customs tariff review to significantly boost agricultural trade and mutual investments, according to a Monday Foreign Ministry report.
The announcement followed the conclusion of the Egyptian-British Partnership Council meeting held on June 18, co-chaired by the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and the British Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs.
Both ministers affirmed the strength of their bilateral partnership, which is anchored by shared strategic goals and a mutual commitment to enhancing political, economic, and cultural cooperation under the Egypt-UK Partnership Agreement.
During the sessions, the ministers agreed to drive joint economic growth and shared prosperity by expanding cooperation in green growth, climate action, and the transition to clean energy.
They also emphasized the critical importance of strengthening migration management, addressing the root causes of irregular migration, and intensifying joint operations against cross-border organized crime.
Following the formal partnership council proceedings, the two diplomats held extensive consultations on critical regional and international security issues.
Their agenda placed the Palestinian cause, the ongoing conflict in Sudan, maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, and the geopolitical volatility in the Horn of Africa at the forefront of shared strategic priorities.
