CAIRO - 22 June 2026: Israel must halt all military aggression against Lebanon and pull its forces out of Lebanese territories completely, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty urged in a Monday ministerial meeting.
Abdelatty met with Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Youssef Rajji on the sidelines of the Arab League Council meeting hosted in Jordan. During the talks, Abdelatty affirmed Egypt's absolute solidarity with Lebanon during its current critical challenges, emphasizing Cairo's firm rejection of any infringement on Lebanese sovereignty, unity, or territorial integrity.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister reiterated Cairo's firm support for the comprehensive, non-selective implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701. He stressed that a full Israeli withdrawal is vital to allow the Lebanese Armed Forces and state institutions to extend their legitimate authority across the entire national territory.
Abdelatty strongly condemned repeated Israeli targeting of Lebanese facilities, branding these actions a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter.
Further, Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's commitment to supporting Lebanese state institutions, particularly the military, to enable them to maintain security and ensure state control over weapons.
Rajji expressed Lebanon's deep appreciation for Egypt’s continuous diplomatic efforts.
He said Beirut seeks to leverage Egypt’s substantial regional and international diplomatic weight to safeguard Lebanese stability and support its state institutions.
