CAIRO – 22 June 2026: Egypt expressed its solidarity with Qatar following an accident at a factory in the Ras Laffan Industrial City that left dozens injured and several others missing.

In a statement, Egypt affirmed its full support for the sisterly State of Qatar in the aftermath of the incident and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.

Egypt also expressed confidence in the ability of the Qatari authorities to manage the consequences of the accident and mitigate its impact.

According to Qatar's Ministry of Interior, the number of people injured in the incident has risen to 54.

The Ministry said the Qatar International Search and Rescue Group of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), in cooperation with Civil Defence teams, is continuing search operations for 18 missing persons.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident was caused by a technical malfunction during operations at the factory in Ras Laffan Industrial City, the Ministry added.
