GAZA CITY – 20 June 2026: Israeli gunfire and airstrikes killed at least nine people in the Gaza Strip on Saturday, including a child, Reuters reported, citing health officials.
Al Jazeera said its Al Jazeera Mubasher cameraman Ahmed Washah was killed in an Israeli strike on a home in the Bureij area in central Gaza.
The Israeli strikes hit Gaza City and Khan Younis in the south of the enclave, continuing near-daily attacks despite a ceasefire agreement that took effect in October 2025.
Since the ceasefire, 1,007 people have been killed and 3,165 have been injured, according to Gaza’s health ministry earlier today, bringing the overall death toll since the start of the war in October 2023 to over 73,000, with more than 173,000 wounded.
UNICEF has described the ceasefire in Gaza as a “deadly illusion”, saying on Friday that 265 children have been killed since the agreement took effect.
