CAIRO - 19 June 2026: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said he hopes the memorandum of understanding (MoU) reached between the United States and Iran will mark an important turning point for regional security and stability, paving the way for addressing outstanding issues through dialogue and diplomatic means.

 

The remarks came during a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, during which both sides discussed the US–Iran memorandum of understanding.

 

Abdelatty stressed the importance of the agreement in reducing tensions and preventing further escalation and instability in the region.

 

He also expressed appreciation for the close coordination with regional and international partners that helped achieve the understanding, voicing hope it would lead to a final, sustainable agreement that addresses the concerns of all parties and supports lasting peace and stability.

 

For his part, the Iranian foreign minister expressed Tehran’s appreciation for Egypt’s efforts over recent months through high-level contacts aimed at bridging differences and overcoming obstacles in the negotiation process, which helped create the conditions for reaching the memorandum of understanding.
