CAIRO - 18 June 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi welcomed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran by President Donald Trump and President Masoud Pezeshkian on Thursday.
President El-Sisi said via his official social media accounts: "I welcome the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries by President Donald Trump and President Masoud Pezeshkian. I would like to express my deep appreciation for President Trump's leadership and wisdom, as well as his sincere efforts to support security and stability in the region. I also appreciate President Pezeshkian's positive engagement and his commitment to reaching mutually agreeable understandings."
President El-Sisi added: "I also value the close coordination that took place with regional partners to achieve this positive outcome. We appreciate the tireless efforts exerted by Pakistan, Qatar, and the other members of the Quartet, represented by Saudi Arabia and Turkey, in helping to reach this memorandum of understanding."
President El-Sisi continued: "I hope that this step will mark a major turning point toward a new phase of de-escalation, confidence-building, and joint cooperation, helping to achieve sustainable security and stability in the region."
