Egyptian FM Badr Abdelatty and Lebanese PM Dr. Nawaf Salam hold a phone call meeting Thursday
CAIRO - 18 June 2026: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad Dr. Badr Abdelatty, received a phone call Thursday, from Dr. Nawaf Salam, Prime Minister of Lebanon, to discuss the latest developments in Lebanon.
Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Abdelatty reiterated during the call Egypt's full solidarity with brotherly Lebanon in facing the current delicate challenges.
He emphasized Egypt's position calling for Israel's complete withdrawal from all Lebanese territory, stressing that any infringement upon Lebanon's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
The spokesperson added that Minister Abdelatty affirmed the importance of supporting Lebanese state institutions, particularly the Lebanese Army, to enable them to fulfill their responsibilities in extending their authority and sovereignty over all national territory.
In this context, he emphasized the necessity of ensuring the state's monopoly on the use of force, considering this the cornerstone for preserving Lebanon's security and stability, supporting the state's choice, and safeguarding the resources of the brotherly Lebanese people.
Minister Abdelatty affirmed Egypt's commitment to continuing its support for brotherly Lebanon and its national institutions, stemming from the fraternal relations and close ties that bind the two brotherly countries, and contributing to strengthening Lebanon's security and stability.
