CAIRO – 17 June 2026: Jocelyn Woollar, the British government's official Arabic-language spokesperson for the Middle East and North Africa, said she is visiting Egypt for the first time during what she described as a very important week for relations between Egypt and the United Kingdom.
In a video posted on her Instagram account, Woollar said she had arrived in Egypt that day and was immediately struck by the country's unique atmosphere.
“The energy in the country is different, and even the weather is different,” she said, adding: “Even when you are leaving the airport, you feel history everywhere, as well as the kindness and generosity of the people. Seriously, there is no place in the world like Egypt.”
Woollar noted that her visit comes during a significant week for relations between the two countries. She also asked her followers which Egyptian dish she should try and invited them to share their recommendations.
