CAIRO - 17 June 2026: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met Wednesday with Brazilian President Lula da Silva on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian, France.
 
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, stated that the meeting addressed the full spectrum of bilateral relations between Egypt and Brazil.
 
President Sisi expressed his deep pride in the historical ties between the two countries, emphasizing Egypt's commitment to strengthening these relations and all existing frameworks for consultation.
 
He also particularly commended the ongoing joint efforts to implement the provisions of the Strategic Partnership Agreement signed between the two countries in November 2014, noting the significant growth in trade exchange between the two countries in recent years.
 
The official spokesperson added that President da Silva expressed his pleasure at meeting again with President El-Sisi, welcoming the momentum in bilateral relations, particularly given that Egypt is Brazil's most important trading partner in Africa.
 
The Brazilian president also commended the growing cooperation frameworks between the two countries following Egypt's accession to the BRICS group, as well as the strategic partnership agreement and the free trade agreement between Egypt and Mercosur.
 
He emphasized the need to continue working to increase the volume of trade between the two countries, despite it recently exceeding $5.5 billion.
 
The spokesperson noted that the two presidents also discussed joint cooperation in international forums. For his part, the Brazilian president expressed his appreciation for the efforts of Egypt and President El-Sisi aimed at restoring stability in the Middle East, stressing his country's support for Egyptian approaches that prioritize reaching sustainable and comprehensive peaceful solutions to the crises in the Middle East and Africa.
 
At the end of the meeting, the two presidents agreed to continue coordination and consultation at all levels between their countries in the coming period.
